In just the last couple of days, we’ve seen pets doing things so incredible they left us thinking maybe our own cats and dogs could possibly do more than nap and chase squirrels.
The third annual World Dog Surfing Championships held in California over the weekend made me wish my dogs would venture more than just two inches into a lake. These thrill-seeking pups rode gnarly waves with and without their human companions.
CBS Sunday Morning featured truffle sniffing dogs at the North American Truffle Dog Championship in Oregon. Although we do have customers with dog breeds especially known for their truffle sniffing abilities, we learned that any type of dog can actually be trained to seek out the valuable delicacy.
And last night’s episode of “America’s Got Talent” featured a mother-daughter team who train their cats to dance on their hind legs, weave in betweens obstacles, and scoot across ladders, like highly trained agility dogs. As a mostly lifelong cat owner, I can attest to the fact that most cats simply don’t care about much of anything, which makes these kitties that much more impressive. Best act of the show, in my opinion.
